To attain Taiwan's national long-term greenhouse gas emission reduction goals, five-year phases of periodic regulatory goals are created according to Article 10 of the "Climate Change Response Act," which are submitted to the Executive Yuan for approval, implementation, and announcement. The goals include:

1. National periodic regulatory goals
2. Sectoral periodic regulatory goals including energy, manufacturing, residence and commerce, transportation, agriculture, and environment
3. Electricity use emission coefficient periodic regulatory goals

Additionally, the Executive Yuan has approved Taiwan's Phase 1 and Phase 2 greenhouse gas periodic regulatory goals on Jan. 23, 2018 and Sept. 29, 2021, which will allow for the periodic review of emission performance.
