Reason for creation:

To promote the concept of "sponge city," the Climate Change Administration, Ministry of Environment, has established a "Rain Garden Section." Centered on demonstration sites across Taiwan, it presents the features and construction outcomes of various rain gardens through illustrated guides, showcasing their diverse functions in flood detention, cooling, water purification, and improving the urban environment.

This section integrates real-time IoT monitoring data, educational materials, and multimedia resources to help the public understand the principles and environmental benefits of rain gardens, encouraging communities and schools to take action toward building low-carbon, sustainable, and resilient urban environments.

Target:

The general public, school faculties and students, local governments and community-building organizations, professional designers and landscape planners, and citizens who are concerned about climate adaptation and urban sustainability.

Core works:

  • Consolidates information and real-time IoT monitoring data from 14 rain garden demonstration sites across Taiwan.
  • Provides site guides, cross-sections, and construction outcomes.
  • Consolidates educational materials, infographics, multimedia materials, and technical manuals for educational and community promotional use.
  • Builds an online consultation and feedback mechanism to encourage diverse participation.
  • Posts updates on the latest policies and educational events.

Service highlight:

  • Consolidates diverse demonstrations: combines the three major functions of demonstration site guidance, real-time IoT data, and educational resources.
  • Provides a public participation platform: online consultation and feedback forms facilitate public and community action.
  • Provides bilingual access: the site is fully bilingual to promote international exchange and knowledge sharing.
