The Climate Change Administration, Ministry of Environment, has launched a Rain Garden Project to adapt to climate change. The purpose of setting up rain gardens is based on the concept of a sponge campus, utilizing natural methods to regulate local microclimates, improve flooding conditions, and serve as ecological education facilities. These gardens can conserve rainwater, retain floods, reduce surface temperature, and harvest rainwater as irrigation. According to field investigation, a total of 14 rain gardens have collectively improved an area of 4,560 square meters prone to flooding. They can store up to 10,754 m3 of water annually and reduce surface temperatures by more than 2 ℃.
